On Friday 1st March, I hosted an Adjournment Debate on the progress of St Helier hospital and the delivery of a new state of the art hospital in Sutton. It is this Conservative Government that is delivering this vital project and prioritising our local healthcare.
I have mentioned St Helier over two dozen times since I was elected - and I remain fully committed to fighting for better local health services.
This investment in local services, is the largest healthcare investment in our local area in decades, and will deliver a new state of the art Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Sutton. This new hospital will consolidate six major services in one location; providing A&E, critical care, emergency surgery, acute medicine, pediatric care; and childbirth.
The project will also upgrade the existing St Helier and Epsom hospitals, providing vital upgrades and refurbishments to ensure that they can continue to provide high quality healthcare locally.
The Epsom and St Helier NHS Trust are ready to move at pace with this project, and I will continue to make the case at every opportunity that they should be able to move as quickly as possible.
