Prologis are building a new industrial and logistics park on Beddington Lane in front of the incinerator, so I met with them today to chat about their progress and other issues.
I have been looking into ongoing problems with the Beddington Farmlands, including the apparently illegal felling of trees at Oaks Copse, but I have been assured that it was not related to this development. There is a temporary car park that Prologis are using, but it is not owned by them, nor do they intend to seek permanent planning permission for it once the development is completed.
The industrial and logistics park will comprise 6 units and be available to rent from next year.
As part of the development, Prologis will also be taking over responsibility for maintenance of the nature reserve further down Beddington Lane. Whilst not linked with the Beddington Farmlands project, taken together this should mean good news for wildlife and biodiversity across the site. I have asked them to also look at involving local voluntary groups in maintenance of the reserve.
I will keep up to date with their progress.
You can find more details about the plans here.
