Last week, I was grateful to be able to present my bill to properly close the loopholes used by puppy smugglers and those illicitly importing dogs, including those with illegally docked tails and cropped ears.
I'm incredibly thankful for the work done by the Dogs Trust in shining a light on these illegal practices and what needs to be done to ensure they are stopped once and for all.
We're a nation of dog lovers - and they've been our steadfast companions for thousands of years.
Now, this is our chance to repay that companionship and assistance by protecting them.
And that’s what this bill does - by setting out to right the wrongs currently being perpetrated, to close the loopholes smugglers continue to exploit, and to strengthen the existing laws and legislation.
