Earlier today, I visited Beddington Park Academy.
Whilst there, I got to meet Mr Glover, the CEO of STEP Academy Trust, and Ms Miskelly, the Head of School. It was incredibly useful to sit down with the leadership team to recap and go over their upcoming priorities for the school, as well as how I might be able to help - both in terms of lobbying ministers and liaising with the Department for Education.
However, the grilling came from the students, who showed how engaged and involved they are - both in their school and local community. This wider awareness and caring nature was also demonstrated with the solemn National Minute Silence that I was honoured to take part in at the school to mark a year since the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
From my visit, it's clear pupils at Beddington Park are happy, engaged and receiving an excellent education from the dedicated teaching staff.
I will always work to ensure that every child in our local area has a good school place. It’s something I campaigned on, and continue to lobby - and fight - for.
