Earlier today I met with the National Pharmacy Association to continue discussions about how I can best support our fantastic local pharmacists.
This follows on from a virtual meeting last month with representatives from pharmacies in Carshalton and Wallington to discuss their concerns around the impact of current funding on independent pharmacies in England, and visits to Sutton Pharmacy, Hackbridge Pharmacy and Anna Pharmacy and to S G Barai Pharmacy on Erskine Road.
As a member of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Pharmacies, I will be writing again to Ministers to make clear the importance of the work that pharmacists do in our community, particularly to alleviate pressures on other front-line healthcare services, and the need for them to be properly funded.
I am also working with organisations like the Terrence Higgins Trust and the National AIDS Trust to explore how pharmacies could be best placed to support the national role out of PrEP.
