I raised concerns about crime in Carshalton and Wallington with the Borough Commander today.
Meeting for the first time since I was elected, Superintendent Dave Stringer and I had a conversation about priorities for policing in the local area.
I was very pleased to hear that Sutton would soon be getting an immediate uplift in the number of new officers, with even more new officers to come in the coming year. This is good news for local residents as more police officers will be on the streets keeping us safe.
Whilst Carshalton and Wallington is a relatively low crime area compared to most of London, especially when it comes to violent crime, there are still substantial concerns about crime in the area.
We spoke about anti-social behaviour, especially young people on scooters and mopeds, catalytic converter thefts, domestic violence, and theft from the home of motor vehicles.
He assured me that the police had made these priorities for the local area, and I look forward to working constructively with him in the months and years ahead to ensure our area remains a safe place to live and work.
