This week was a bumper week for being able to speak in the Chamber itself.
In fact, I was incredibly lucky to have two questions drawn to be answered by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero.
I wanted to use the opportunity to raise the issue of the Beddington Incinerator and especially the consultation that's just closed on expanding the amount of waste that's allowed to be burnt at the site.
I find it highly suspect, and indeed questionable, for the Environment Agency to have stated that they were minded to approve the application - before the consultation had even closed!
That's despite the incinerator originally being designed to treat up to 302,500 tonnes of waste, with this application allowing it to take up to 382,000 tonnes per annum. That's a 26% increase in waste!
I stand with the countless residents who have raised concerns about the incinerator, and its impact on the local community. I have done since the original plans were announced, and I will continue to.
