I recently spoke in a Westminster Hall debate about hate crime towards the LGBT+ community where I raised alarming statistics about the increase of hate crime towards the LGBT+ community.
The questions I raised during my speech to the Minister were as follows;
- I’d be grateful if the Home Office can outline what discussions it has had with the Metropolitan Police about the contents of the Casey report and how it intends to keep track of the quality of the improvements the metropolitan police must take to repair its relationship with the LGBT + community?
- Can the Home Office commit to updating their Action Plan for England and Wales as it has not been updated for years.
- What discussions has the Home Office had with the Metropolitan Police and with other Police about homophobia within their own forces and how do they plan to rebuild trust with the LGBT+ community? Can the Home Office confirm that this is a priority to be stamped out.
