This afternoon I was delighted to visit Rushy Meadows Primary School to mark UK Parliament Week.
I met with pupils from Years 4-6 who had been elected to Rushy Meadows' very own Pupil Parliament! The newly elected members were recently introduced to the whole school and I was thrilled to have the opportunity to meet with the children and hear more about their exciting new roles.
The Pupil Parliament and I discussed my role as local MP for Carshalton and Wallington and the exciting things I get to do in the local community, such as visiting our fantastic schools. The children also quizzed me on my favourite aspects of the role, whether I had met the Prime Minister, what my favourite hobbies are, and why I wanted to become an MP. I even got the chance to meet Elsie the Elsa Dog who is clearly very loved by the children!
I'd like to extend a huge thank you to the children and staff at Rushy Meadows for their warm welcome and brilliant questions! I look forward to more UK Parliament Week visits tomorrow, as well as continuing to engage with our brilliant local schools.
