This morning I had the pleasure of speaking to Stanley Park Junior School’s Year 4 Class where I had the chance to finally meet my 2020 Christmas Card Winner, Shuddhi.
Due to Coronavirus and lockdown restrictions, I was sadly not able to present Shuddhi with my Christmas card which featured her fantastic design; however I was pleased to be able to thank Shuddhi in person today. I know the Christmas card was received and loved by my MP colleagues, local businesses, friends, family, and the Prime Minister, and I look forward to opening the 2021 Christmas Card Competition later this year.
I was incredibly impressed with the intelligent and thought-provoking questions the Year 4s put to me about my ‘life as an MP’. This covered everything from the Coronavirus vaccination roll-out, the achievements from the G7 Summit, my main priorities for Carshalton and Wallington and whether I had met the Queen (sadly I have not)!
We also spoke about my commitment to improving animal welfare and the fantastic achievement of securing £500 million to improve St Helier Hospital and build a brand-new hospital here in the Borough.
I would like to say a massive thank you to Headteacher Amanda Lamy for showing me around the school for the first time and to the Year 4s for their fantastic questions.
