It's extremely good to hear that the Department of Health and Social Care have agreed to freeze the age for free prescriptions at the age of 60.
This news follows a consultation carried out by the Department. Following this, and taking into account a number of factors, including current cost of living and increased medical needs due to an ageing population, the decision was made to freeze the age at 60.
Also remaining in place are prescription charge exemptions those aged under 16 or those in full time education and aged 17 and 18, while those in receipt of certain benefits can also receive free prescriptions.
