This afternoon I was pleased to join Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing Association (MTVH) for a walkabout around the Roundshaw estate and hear more about the work they are doing locally for residents.
On the walk, MTVH showed me around some of the fascinating architecture of Roundshaw and it was great to see how the estate has developed and modernised over the years. I also learnt more about Roundshaw's historic ties to Croydon Airport and the role the Airport played in WW2 and the Battle of Britain. The Spitfire Weathervane Memorial, which is dedicated to the Spitfire Squadron 92 and all those who lost their lives locally during WW2, is particularly moving and really highlights the sense of community on the estate.
I also had the opportunity to meet a local business owner who is working with Metropolitan to provide food through her food truck several times a week. My caseworker Ethan and I ordered a burger each which was incredible and perfect for a Friday treat! it's lovely to see local business owners being supported in this way and providing more amenities to those living on Roundshaw.
I regularly speak with Roundshaw residents on a variety of local issues so please do not hesitate to get in touch if there's anything I can do to help.
