A huge thank you to all the local businesses who attended the inaugural meeting of the new Carshalton & Wallington Business Forum.
I recently brought together businesses from across our area for the first of what I hope will be a regular meetings of the Carshalton & Wallington Business Forum.
The aim of the business forum is to bring together local business voices to discuss ways in which we can work together to help businesses flourish locally. We will feed back our thoughts to the Government and the Council, and hopefully set about improving our area for local businesses.
The first meeting took place with just a handful of local business to kick things off. In future, meetings will be expanded to more and more local businesses.
Paul Scully MP, the Minister for Small Businesses, also attended the inaugural meeting to hear from local businesses.
The topics of discussion during the first meeting included: staffing issues, Covid recovery (particularly in the hospitality sector), apprenticeships, inflation, improving footfall to local high streets/shopping parades, independent business partnerships and incentive schemes, and, of course, parking.
I will be holding further local business events in the coming months. In the interim, if you are a local business owner and would like to discuss an issue with me, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
