It was great to see that a number of schools in our areas were successful in their bids for the latest round of the Condition Improvement Fund.
The Fund seeks to ensure that schools are safe and in working order, working to rectify poor building condition, building compliance, energy efficiency, and health and safety.
Within our constituency, those schools who have been successful are:
- Wilson's School
- Wandle Valley Academy
- Rushy Meadow Primary Academy
- All Saints Carshalton Church of England Primary School
- Stanley Park Infants School
- Barrow Hedges Primary School
Ensuring a good school place for every local child is something that is central to my work as the Member of Parliament for Carshalton and Wallington, and so I am glad to see that a number of our local schools will be benefitting from this increase in funding from Central Government.
On announcing the successful bids, the Secretary of State noted that, "As in previous rounds, the fund was heavily oversubscribed so only those projects that demonstrated a high project need and aligned with CIF priorities have been funded."
In total, funding of £498 million was announced by the Secretary of State for Education, covering 1,405 projects at over 1,000 academies, sixth-form colleges and voluntary aided schools.
