Earlier today, I got to raise the 11,600 local residents who will soon be receiving a cost of living payment, with Rt Hon Thérèse Coffey MP, the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions. The payment is part of a wide-ranging package of support that was announced earlier this year to help families and the most vulnerable in society as we face rising bills and costs due to global cost of living issues. As part of this, I especially welcomed the fact that many of the payments being made will be to working households.
As my second question to the Secretary of State underlined, there is still work to be done to ensure more local people are able to find fulfilling, well-paying jobs. It's because of this, and as we continue to work to to get people into those jobs, that I'd like to thank all of those involved in the effort - from our Job Centre teams, the vocational skills trainers, charities and organisation. The foundations are strong, and together we can ensure a truly holistic approach to not just getting people into work but ensuring they stay in those jobs.
