I strongly welcome the Department of Education's announcement that school funding will rise to the highest levels in history; around £60 billion.
What's more - that'll mean schools across our area will receive almost £110 million - that's record funding, ensuring every child has a good local school place.
Having attended local schools myself, it's something that I care deeply about; and something that I'll continue to campaign on - whether it's fighting for every SEND pupil to get the support package they need, lobbying ministers for more significant investment, or celebrating fantastic results and innovations locally.
Nationally, too, we're delivering on these aims:
- Primary school children ranked the best readers in the Western world
- 27,000 more teachers than in 2010
- Better results in English
- 5.5m apprenticeship starts
- The largest ever expansion of childcare
