Turns out we've got a glimpse into where all that extra money from the ULEZ charges will be going...
The Mayor of London is currently advertising for a so-called "Senior Strategic Communications and Campaigns Manager", whose "immediate focus will be the communications campaign for one of the Mayor’s highest-profile programmes – the London-wide Ultra Low Emission Zone".
All for the princely sum of £75,750 a year.
That's right - £75,000+ to try and steer the sinking ship that is ULEZ expansion.
Speaking to residents, the main requirement for the role shouldn't be a knowledge of strategic communications or 'opinion research methodologies', but a magic wand.
Because after Sadiq Khan's botched consultation, the ongoing High Court judgement, shocking scrapping scheme numbers, and more and more stories of potential bankruptcy and over-stretched finances from those facing ULEZ charges, magic is the only way the successful applicant stands any chance in changing the narrative on expansion.
Still, nice work if you can get it.
